Ethical Shopping

It is important and ethical to understand where food and animals products we buy come from. Most of the cruelty experienced by animals is hidden behind facades of respectability and business. It is the shopper that completes the cycle. Please ensure you shop ethically and shop for cruelty-free products. Consumer power is a wonderful and powerful tool, for it can make or break a company and they know it. Companies spend billions on advertising to give a product the right spin. Do not be hoodwinked by flowery statements.

An animal deserves a decent life and a decent death. The prices we pay for the meat and products that we consume directly impacts on the condition the animals are kept in. With chickens ranging from £3.50 to £15.00 for the same weight, we have to ask ourselves... What is the difference?

The price of £3.50 for a whole chicken includes everything that has happened to that bird from chick to a full grown chicken including it's food, it's accommodation and the delivery and packaging until you buy it. So you must ask yourself what life you think the animal had?

By buying, you decide whether to complete the cycle so it can start again. Consumers have the power.

Some of the pictures below are disturbing, and some of the information is too, but this is the reality of the situation. The buyer has the power to change this. YOU have the power to change this.

WHERE DOES YOUR FOOD COME FROM? DO YOU KNOW?

CHEAP BEEF & MILK

Cattle are kept in cramped conditions. They never stand or see grass. They are given antibiotics as a matter of course as disease is commonplace. They live a short and tragic life so that we can eat cheaply. As with humans, sick and weak cows are more susceptible to TB.

CHEAP EGGS & CHICKEN

Kept in cages, unable to turn around, laying eggs all day, fed by a conveyor belt, standing on a wire so their faeces drops through for easy clean. They never see the light of day. Fed to get so fat they can't stand on their legs. Their short life is miserable and then we eat them.
